A group that’s main goal is to stop suffering of animals or humans as a result of abuse, cruelty or any similar reasons is called a humane society. In a number of different countries worldwide, this term is used mostly for preventing animal cruelty. Now in the UK, this can be something that provides recovery service, waterways rescue or perhaps, something that is giving awards to distinctive individual for saving a life.
In the US, the first humane society was ASPCA or American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, founded by Henry Bergh in New York City in 1866. According to the studies, the Humane Society of the United States is currently at the 6th spot being the most popular non-profit group in America out of over 100 charities.
Some of the local humane society shelters are being referred as No Kill. This is described as a shelter wherein animals are euthanized for two reasons, if they’re suffering from an untreatable medical condition and when they have serious behavior problems which makes them unfit for adoption.
